SIOUX FALLS, SD —For the second year in a row, US News & World Report’s Top Hospitals for 2022-2023 ranked Sanford Medical Center Fargo as the No. 1 hospital in North Dakota and Sanford USD Medical Center as the No. 1 from South Dakota.
Annual US News & World Report rankings are published to help patients decide where to receive care. US News assesses data from nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult specialties, 9 adult procedures and conditions, and 10 pediatric specialties.
Sanford USD Medical Center received high-performing rankings in three adult specialty areas, including gastroenterology and gastroenterological surgery, orthopedics and pulmonology, and pulmonary surgery.
In gastroenterology and gastroenterological surgery, Sanford USD Medical Center ranks among the best in the nation when comparing these specialty departments with health care systems across the country.

Sanford Medical Center Fargo ranked top performer in urology and is ranked top performer in 10 procedures and specialties, including colon cancer surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, colon cancer surgery, kidney heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
