  • Expanding health equity assessments for 2022-2023
  • Black residents receive equitable preventive care in a hospital’s service area

The Treasure Coast is home to top-notch hospitals, according to US News & World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Hospitals Rankings.

Each of the region’s seven hospitals ranked among the top 10% nationally in at least one condition or procedure, receiving “high performance” ratings as opposed to “average” or “below mean “.

However, all local hospitals demonstrated “significant disparity” in preventing readmissions, the report said. Black patients had a higher risk than white patients of being readmitted to hospital within 30 days of being discharged after certain surgeries.

In another racial disparity, the proportion of nonwhite patients treated at multiple hospitals was lower than the proportion of nonwhite residents living nearby.
