Advances in medical imaging are key to improving patient outcomes

Over the past few months, we have witnessed the introduction of many new types of medical equipment and glimpses of new technologies that will soon be welcome in the medical industry.

As Regional Sales Manager for Hisense Middle East for the medical equipment sector, I sensed a certain curiosity among my peers about our presence. The brand may be one of the most innovative electronics companies in the world, but with our reputation based largely on making award-winning televisions and home appliances, I’ve answered a variety of questions about our gear medicine and how it can benefit the global medical industry. .

As I explained to curious experts in the sector, our experience in televisions allows us to be perfectly adapted to the medical market. We recently unveiled our new 55-inch endoscopic monitor known as the HME8C55U and it doesn’t take a neurosurgeon to understand why a company with over 50 years of experience in visual technology and home appliances can pivot comfortable towards ultrasound screens.

The HME8C55U is a 4K ultra high definition professional endoscopic surgery monitor that supports a display resolution of up to eight million pixels. It features a 200,000:1 contrast ratio and a peak brightness level of 2,000 nits, ensuring brilliant clarity of tissue detail in tight cavities.

By increasing image clarity and connectivity, we can ensure that surgeons are better equipped to perform their tasks with confidence, which in turn contributes to improved patient outcomes. By incorporating a backlight sensor, we ensure backlight stability and brightness for the life of the product. We are also one of the few brands to provide a single 12G SDI connection on our surgical monitors for viewing 4K images, eliminating the need for three cables and making ORs cleaner and less cluttered. For smaller operating rooms there is also the option of 32″ and 27″ screens.

Still relatively new to the market, we are not only raising eyebrows, but also the general level of performance within the healthcare industry. We invest significant research and development resources to bring strong value propositions to market that deliver 4K image views of complicated surgeries in operating rooms. The irony of an entire surgical team doing meticulous work in a hospital huddled around a 24 or 26-inch monitor, while consumers watch fantastic films and football matches on high-resolution 86-inch screens in their own home is not lost. we.

However, that is starting to change. Having a larger screen in the operating room improves surgical precision and makes it easier to identify bleeding points, allowing faster and more targeted action to control blood loss. A monitor with 4K resolution in an operating room also means that surgeons have access to our real-time image enhancement (RPE), providing frame-by-frame algorithmic enhancement of the image in terms of color, brightness , contrast and depth – all of which are fundamentals of image quality. This allows the medical team to always have the best possible image of the surgical site.

Note that I say ‘team’ and not ‘surgeon’. Indeed, a larger and improved image not only improves visibility, but also ensures that the entire operations team can keep abreast of real-time developments in a wider viewing area without issue. This immediately improves communication and decision-making during surgery, reducing stress and shared responsibilities in the operating room, especially during long and complicated procedures. The result is clear: more successful surgeries, better patient outcomes and an improved healthcare system.

In fact, the obvious benefits of larger 4K displays in operating rooms are such that surgery centers and the medical fraternity are pushing for them to become the new normal as soon as possible. If we have helped to bring about this discussion and this change, we can be satisfied, but we have little intention of stopping there.

We are committed to creating breakthrough medical technology and, as the HME8C55U proves, we are already bringing breakthrough products to market that dramatically improve the healthcare industry.
