Financial Services Offered in Remote Temburong

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) recently completed eight discussion sessions on financial planning, entrepreneurship and digital banking in Temburong district, aimed at government officials, micro-enterprises, village leaders as well as members from the community.

The holistic approach to financial discussions, which was attended by over 200 people, aimed to raise the level of financial literacy in the community.

In addition to interviews with government officials and members of Unitary and Village Advisory Councils, BIBD team members also visited directly the villages and longhouses of Kampong Selapon, Kampong Batu Apoi, Kampong Amo and Kampong Lepong Baru. to engage with community members in order to specifically address their needs and requirements.

BIBD’s financial planning talks were given by BIBD’s certified Islamic financial planners.

Topics covered included the basics of budgeting and saving, investments and long-term financial goals, takaful protection as well as retirement protection, zakat and estate planning.

BIBD’s Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail Banking, Irwan bin Haji Lamit, said, “BIBD has always been committed to raising awareness for better financial management as early as possible.

BIBD staff also gave talks to MSME business owners and potential entrepreneurs, showcasing the range of products and services available to local micro-enterprises and how BIBD is able to support them on their entrepreneurial journey. .

Supporting BIBD’s commitment to digital banking, the bank’s Digital Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) also gave presentations to attendees, to demonstrate the wide range of services that can be provided through BIBD NEXGEN.

The talks are also part of BIBD’s efforts under the sustainability framework and roadmap, to promote inclusive social impact and responsible entrepreneurship in support of the Maqasid Syariah and work towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035. .
